This Bible study course provides a foundational understanding of Bible truths. We encourage you to take the time to carefully and prayerfully complete these Bible study courses in their order. If you live in the Dufferin County area of Ontario, Canada, we strongly encourage you to contact us in order to complete these Bible studies one-on-one with the pastor of Headwaters Baptist Church or with a church member who can assist you and answer questions you may have as you study the materials.
The course is the product of the diligent work of Brother Thomas Ross, a member of Mukwonago Baptist Church. Brother Ross has graciously permitted the use of these Bible Studies in the ministry of Headwaters Baptist Church. For additional free study materials related to Baptist doctrine, we encourage you to visit his website.
How much do the lessons cost?
There is no cost to the lessons offered here. They are free. We only ask that you contact their author, Brother Ross, before reproducing them for distribution.
Who should complete these Bible studies?
The course is designed to provide basic teaching from the Bible about the Bible. It has benefited both those with no knowledge of the Biblical faith and those who have been taught much already. We also encourage believers to take the course to keep them grounded in the basics and also to become better equipped in giving an answer to everyone that asketh a reason of the hope that is in them (I Pet. 3:15).
The teaching in the course is basic enough that we have used it (with minor adaptation) in teaching children as young as five years old.
Which Bible version should I use?
We exclusively use the King James Version. For a brief summary of the reasons why, please review our Doctrinal Statement, under the heading "Of The Scriptures."
What if I don't have a Bible?
Please contact us through our Contact page to request a free Bible.
How can I get the most out of these lessons?
For the study of the Scriptures to be truly beneficial, it cannot be approached the same way as the study of any other book. Repeatedly, in Psalm 119, the psalmist pleaded with the Lord to open his eyes and to incline his heart to God's Word. Hebrews 11:6 tells us that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. Thus, pray that the Lord would illuminate your heart with truth.
If you live reasonably close to or in Dufferin County or the Headwaters Region of Ontario (northwest of Toronto), we encourage you to contact us so that we can study through these lessons with you one-on-one and answer any questions you might have that are not answered in the lessons. If you do not live close enough for that, we will do our best to help you study through them and to point you to a Scriptural church near you that can assist you in your studies.
We encourage you to look up all the Scripture references in the lessons. As much as man may explain and expound God's Word to you in a beneficial way, it is the Word of God itself that will convict, reprove, and teach you.
How do I submit my answers?
You can submit them several ways. You can fill in the blanks after printing the lessons and scan/email the completed lessons to biblestudy at headwatersbaptistchurch dot org. You may also complete them and mail them back to us for marking. Due to the length of the lesson and the number of pages, you may simply want to record your answers on a single sheet of paper, so that you do not have to mail in the entire lesson. When you do that, since the lesson fill-in-the-blanks are not numbered, simply include the verse reference alongside your answer. The sheet can then be mailed to us, or scanned and emailed to the appropriate email address. We are working to reformat the lessons to allow for online completion.
What if I have more questions?
